SELF Up N Out Studio

This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending SELF Magazine’s Up N Out Studio, held at Spring Studios in Tribeca!

I heard about this awesome weekend from Her Campus Blogger Network, and quickly signed up to reserve my spot! For this weekend, SELF showcased great studio workouts from around the country, including Pure Barre, FlyWheel, Barry’s Bootcamp and many more! I woke up nice and early Sunday morning and headed into the city so I had time to explore the studio and fun vendors that would be there. I arrived around 10:15 but since my 305 Fitness class wasn’t until 11:40 during the “Brunch” session, I had some time to look around before my class. I sampled some smoothies and bars from Premiere Protein, took some photos with Bliss Spa, and chatted with some reps from a bunch of other great companies. I also left with an amazing swag bag filled with goodies from all of these great sponsors.

Now time for the fitness… I had been wanting to try a class with 305 Fitness, so this was a great opportunity (hello free class). I thought it would be just a fun dance class, but it was INTENSE. Filled with lots of cardio and a little bit of toning, it was definitely a great workout. While it’ll be another year until SELF Up N Out Studio pops up again, I encourage you to keep an eye out for when it does! You won’t regret it.

Easter best

This Easter was a special day because it was also my sister’s 20th birthday. That morning we woke up, got ourself ready and headed to mass. When we got back, we had antipasto plates made by dad, opened our baskets from the Easter Bunny, and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I think this was the jump start of spring and it makes me incredibly happy!!

Happy belated Valentine’s Day! I’ve always been the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day, I think because my parents always managed to make it an extra day special for my sister and I. But just for the record: I’m definitely ready for a boyfriend to be my Valentine haha (sorry mom and dad!).

I started my morning with a Zumba class at my gym. I absolutely love Zumba classes– I think that’s because of the mix of dance and Latin music (hellloooo lots of Pitbull!). The class definitely set my mood for the day, so I’m so glad I went.

I came back from class to an awesome brunch of chocolate chip muffins, banana pecan pancakes, fruit and mimosas. My parents are the absolute cutest and tried to make my day as great as possible.

The rest of my day was spent catching up on my TV shows, cleaning up some space on my laptop (I took some tips from Carly), and just lounging around. Later on we ordered some Chinese food for dinner and took a trip to Target. Somehow I only left there with 2 magazines. I definitely had a few more things in my cart but managed to put them back… go me! I ended my night with watching The Best of Me, that I rented on iTunes. Gotta love a good Nicholas Sparks story!

Hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day!

Falling In Love Can Be Fun

No no no, I haven’t fallen in love (trust me, you would know), but I have found how to (well, maybe). Have you seen the NY Times article about how to fall in love with anyone? Well I happened to read it one morning on my bus ride into work and then one of my favorite bloggers corals + cognacs gave a challenge to share some answers to the questions. Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and I’m feelin’ the love, I thought, why the heck not! So, here goes nothing.

Would you like to be famous? In what way?
Heck yea I would. I’m not sure for what exactly, but something good. When I was younger I wanted to become a dancer and perform all the time. Now I would hope that it would be for something I worked hard for, like my writing or creativity. But I still have a lot of time for that, right?

Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?

Every. Single. Time. I used to HATE phone calls, until I started working at my school’s bookstore and had to answer phone calls from professors, students, and book companies often. It forced me to become comfortable on the phone, which is suchhh a great skill to have, especially during job interviews last year!

When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

I sing to myself in the morning as I blast 92.3 on the radio while getting ready for work. I sing to my friends at work almost everyday. Andddd I really hope they don’t mind.

If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

Mind. I treasure memories and am so lucky to have a great memory right now. I seriously can’t imagine not remembering as much as I do. I see family members losing their memories, and it saddens me so much.

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

My family.

What do you value most in a friendship?

Trust & honesty. I give trust very easily, but once someone breaks that trust, it really takes a lot for me to believe in them again.

How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?

You know Lorelei and Rory from Gilmore Girls, right? Well that’s me and my mom. I am able to talk to her about anything under the sun and I can’t picture my mom not being my best friend. Through every up and down, she is there for me no matter what.

Tell your partner something that you like about them already

Hey you’re reading this right now. And that makes me smile and really makes me like you already!! 🙂

Interested in continuing this lovefest? Leave some of your own answers below or send them to me! I would love to hear them.

Reading Lately

Hello hello! TGIAF (Thank God it’s Almost Friday). I don’t know about you, but my week has been crazyyyyy busy. I’ve been going going going nonstop, and I can’t wait until I can take a breather. Unfortunately I’ve been slacking on the outfit posts. Hopefully I’ll get some more within the next two weeks! So for today, I’ll just leave you with some links of what I’m reading and loving. Hope you enjoy!

  • With the start of the New Year comes lists on lists on resolutions. I shared my goal theme of 2015 a few weeks back. Resolutions can be pretty intimidating, so these small steps to resolutions can definitely help anyone adopt a healthier lifestyle!
  • My mom found this article on Buzzfeed. I must admit, I can sometimes become an OCD organizer, so I absolutely love all of the tips!
  • I love wearing dresses to work. It definitely breaks up the normal jean ensembles. However come winter, I never want to swap out my warm jeans for bare(ish) legs in tights. Could I have found my solution? It’s too good to be true!
  • I was a HUGE Mary Kate and Ashley fan back in the day. I even had a membership to their fan club! You can’t deny that they always look flawless in their photographs, and they’ve shared their tips why! I can’t wait to try these tips at my next red carpet event (one could dream, right?).

Hope you enjoyed these links! Happy almost Friday!! 🙂

Wine Night

Remember how on my bucket list I mentioned I wanted to have a wine night with my girlfriends? Well that happened sooner than I thought! Friday night, my friends came to sleepover and have a good ‘ol fashioned girls night. I picked up pizza after work and got some chips, salsa, and goodies to make s’mores.

We sat at my table and talked for HOURS. We see each other pretty often, but I guess we had a lot to talk about! We eventually transitioned over to the couches and air mattresses and continued talking until 2 in the morning! It was so nice to have a girls night with them 🙂

What do you plan for your girls nights?

Fashion Fridays

Happy Friday! Not only is it Friday, but it’s the beginning of a 3 day weekend, woohoo! Yesterday I had a fun day at work. The whole company was out of the office for an Amazing Race type of scavenger hunt. Afterwards we all celebrated at Battery Gardens. It was such a fun day, and a great way to celebrate the end of summer! It was also a great way for me to meet some people since that I’m new to the office 🙂

It was very hot this week, so my wardrobe consisted of a lot of dresses. Tuesday’s dress is probably one of my favorite dresses I own. My sister bought this dress in navy, and once I saw it on her I knew I had to buy it. Lucky for me, she works at Forever 21 and came home with it for me one day after work 😀 Thanks Jo! I made sure I wore a tank and shorts underneath, just in case I was caught in a subway breeze. I wore my denim jacket when I was cool in the morning, and wore my Kate Spade nude floral earrings from my lovely big, Kylie.

The dress was so comfortable and perfect for a hot day! Being that my office is very casual, this was perfectly acceptable to wear.

What’s your go-to outfit for a hot summer day?
