Chocolate Wasted

So I loveeee chocolate. Shocker I know, it’s in my blog title.

My best friend, Christina, came to visit me over the long Labor Day Weekend, so we decided to head up to Union Square for brunch at Max Brenner. I had been for brunch once before, but was excited to head back. I ordered eggs with hash browns and a side of a biscuit (complete with chocolate dipping sauce), and Christina got the white chocolate/apple cinnamon french toast. Both dishes were FAB and I even enjoyed a fresh cup of Earl Grey Tea Infusion. It was so yummy!

If you’re a chocolate lover I definitely recommend heading over to Max Brenner. I’m hoping my next trip there will be for dessert — I was eyeing the fondue and white chocolate chai!

Sarabeth’s TriBeCa

I’ve mention countless times how much of a brunch fan I am. Well, I think I’ve found another favorite: Sarabeth’s TriBeCa. My sister came to visit me in my apartment earlier this month, and a friend suggested we go here for Saturday brunch. The restaurant was adorable and the service was super speedy– we ordered and our meals come out in less than 10 minutes! We were both especially starving since we did a Soul Cycle class right before, so that’s my kind of restaurant. There are other locations throughout the city, so I’ll definitely have to check it out!

Park Avenue Winter

photo 5

Friday night I had the pleasure of dining at Park Avenue Winter in midtown, to celebrate my friend Maddy’s birthday. Let me start by saying, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city.

A little bit about the restaurant: they change their menu and decor every few months to reflect the current season, so right now it is Winter. It’s such an amazing concept and definitely keeps it interesting. We were also lucky that Maddy’s birthday fell during restaurant week (perfect for my fabulous foodie friend) so of course we had to try the special menu.

I was a little nervous at first because I am such a picky eater and it was a Friday during Lent, which meant no meat, but the staff was extremely accommodating. I was able to order two appetizers instead of an appetizer and a meal. I chose the Greenmarket Lettuces with Winter Frost Vegetables and then the Kale and Manchego Salad. The second salad was actually supposed to have chorizo and made with a chorizo dressing, but the waiter kindly made a swap for a lemon and olive oil dressing instead. With my meal I had the Winter Citruscello Bellini which was so good. For dessert I chose the Winter White Sundae which was Popcorn Ice Cream, Coconut & White Mocha Sauce. The meal and restaurant were so great and it was the perfect place to celebrate Maddy’s birthday.

I can’t wait to return when the seasons change!

PS: Outfit post for this night soon to follow!

Legen.. wait for it….

Dary. Legendary.

Yup, you’ve guessed it, How I Met Your Mother. I went to McGee’s Pub near Central Park last night with two of my friends from work, Lexi and Marie. It was the bar that inspired the writers of HIMYM while they were creating the infamous MacLaren’s. I promised myself I’d go there as soon as I finished watching the show, so last night was perfect! The booths on the first floor definitely reminded me of the group’s usual spot, and it was cool to see photos and memorabilia of the cast hung on the walls around the restaurant. There were even HIMYM themed cocktails!

If you’re a fan of the show, you should definitely check it out!

Brunch Time

If you know me, then you know how much I love brunch. An occasion to get dressed up on the weekend, drink some mimosas and catch up with good friends? That’s my kind of meal! A few weeks ago, my friend Kim invited me to attend a brunch event in Manhattan that benefits JDRF. The event was yesterday, and it was such a good time! It was held at Opus 51, a club in the Meatpacking District. One of the best parts about the brunch was the dancing! You can bet that Kim and I were excited, as we are friends from our dancing school days!

Kim and I were having such a hard time deciding what to wear, because it was a later time during the day (2-5 pm) and we’re at that crossing point of fall but with winter weather. After some advice from friends, I went with my leather skirt and a comfy sweatshirt! I decided to dress it up with a statement necklace. Everyone was wearing different things, but I felt very comfortable in the outfit I picked. I’ll be sharing more pictures of my outfit on Friday, but for now, here are some pictures from the event!

Thanks Kim, for inviting me to this fun event!

Tell the World, I’m Coming Home

If you follow me on Instagram, you definitely saw that I went back to my college for Homecoming last weekend. It was such an AMAZING weekend!! I got to see soooo many of my friends that I hadn’t seen in so long. I took a half day from work on Friday, and drove down to meet up with two of my girlfriends, Maddy and Jamie, I was staying at a hotel with. I had to kill some time before they got down so I walked around campus for a bit and grabbed myself dinner from Cosi (their Signature salad is sooooo good). Once we were ready to go, we headed to the local bars by school. Boy was it good to be back. We had so much fun dancing the night away!

On Saturday, we woke up and got ready for brunch at White Dog Cafe in Wayne. We met up with Maddy’s boyfriend and two of his friends for a great brunch to get us ready for our day! After brunch, we headed to campus to tailgate for the football game. The tailgate was probably the best part of my whole weekend. There were so many people that I knew from school that had graduated or were still in school, all in one place. I just walked around the parking lot for hours to find as many people as I could! After the tailgate, us girls headed to the game. I think I’ve only been to about 3 football games in the 4 years I was at school. Oops! After the game we went to Flemings Steakhouse for their special bar menu. The food was sooo good, and was perfect to get us ready for another night out!

On Sunday, we packed our things and headed to one last meal in the area. We went to DuJour for another great brunch! After brunch, we walked around campus and took a trip to the bookstore. Afterwards, I visited my friends at their Sunday dance rehearsal and then caught up with my sorority Little and Little Little before heading home. I was very sad to leave, but have so many memories from the weekend to keep me happy for awhile!

Happy Anniversary Parents!

As I mentioned last week, my parents are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and today is the day!! This is a special day for the two of them and I’m so lucky we were able to celebrate while my sister was home earlier this month. I already posted some photos of my outfit from that night, but here are some pictures from our dinner at Angelina’s Ristorante. A great way to celebrate to great people. Love you mom and dad– I hope to have a love as great as yours one day!
