I love St. Patrick’s Day! I am nowhere near Irish, but I think its a fun holiday! You all know how I love to be festive for holidays, and this is no exception. Here are some of my personal traditions for each St. Patty’s Day. Enjoy 🙂
Green bagel || I always try to find a bagel store that sells green bagels, and I have been successful the last few years. It may seem a little gross to look at, but it’s so fun!
Shamrock shaped cookies || My sorority always included shamrocks on a lot of our gifts, so in years past, I’ve made shamrock cookies with a shamrock cookie cutter and green frosting. Can’t forget the shamrock shaped sprinkles!
Of course, cannot forget to dress with a little bit of green.
Hope you have a great St. Patrick’s Day!
Isn’t this shirt the cutest!? I won a giveaway from Linda over on L.A Style, N.Y Smile with a $25 gift card to The Shopping Bag and the cutest Forget Me Not ring and lip balm pack. I had never heard of The Shopping Bag before but when I ended up on the site I realized they had so many cute things! But this shirt immediately called my name.
I wanted to wear it to work this week so after a trip to the mall last weekend, I had some new pieces to wear with it. I’m obsessed with my new Old Navy jeans, they’re just so comfy and form fitting.
Luckily for me, I work with the fabulous Marie of The Preppy Mag and she was able to snap these photos for me. It was BEAUTIFUL out on Monday and I was actually comfortable without a coat. Say what?! I know, I was excited too.
The weather was so nice this week. I’m so ready for spring to stay!
Let’s start by saying I’m such a matchy-matchy holiday loving girl. What does that have to do with this outfit? Well I purchased these tights in both black and peach from Old Navy a few months back and just knew I would be wearing them for Valentine’s Day. Which I did, the day before to work with a nice black dress and chambray shirt. But what good is a purchase if you can only wear it once? I knew I had to figure out another way to wear this adorable tights.
I was trying to pair my black skater skirt and chambray shirt but I just wasn’t feeling it. I’ve seen a lot of people wearing shorts and tights this winter but always felt it was way too out of my comfort zone. But let’s not forget, 2015 for me is all about trying new things! So I figured, let’s try this out.
And I must say… I loved it! Shorts are just SO comfortable but it stinks to have to put them away during the winter. I wish I would’ve tried this out sooner!!
Pairing the dressy shorts with booties and then adding in a more casual shirt and nice statement necklace rounded out the look. I wore the necklace/shirt/booties together a few months back for brunch with my friend Kim, and I just loved the way they looked together. Throwing in a hands-free clutch (also has a chain strap to wear over the shoulder), was just what this outfit needed. Perfect for weekend brunch or date night!
Hope you are all having a great week so far 🙂
Oh Monday, we meet again. Is it just me, or is it 10x harder to get up Monday morning?
Getting up for work has been much more of a struggle lately. It could be because I’m now a lot busier at work with longer hours some days, but I just can’t help pressing snooze every morning. Don’t get my wrong I am a morning person, but it would be even better if my mornings started at 8 rather than 6:30 😉
I’ve looked into many ways to become a morning person, and even wrote about it back in the summer. While I haven’t found the perfect solution, I’ve put together a list of things that personally help me out:
- Leave the blinds open a little bit || I have room darkening shades, which is great when I want to block out light on the weekend, but during the week I need a little sun to help my eyes adjust as soon as I wake up. (Note: due to day light savings it won’t be as bright in the morning for a bit, I learned that the hard way 😦 )
- Set clothes out the night before || When you’re exhausted in the morning, the last thing you want to do is pick out an outfit. So setting an outfit out the night before (and trying it on too) is really helpful.
- Play music || Yes, I’m that girl dancing around to the radio in the morning. Music you would dance to out on Saturday night? Yup, that’s exactly what I listen to. It just puts me in a great mood for the morning!
- Try to limit electronic use right before bed || This is a hard one, because I don’t have much time for personal computer use when I get home so I always want to squeeze that in, but I try to get into bed and just watch TV for 15 minutes before falling asleep instead of scrolling through my phone or laptop.
Do you have any tips I should try? I would love to hear them!
As I mentioned on Wednesday, I celebrated my friend Maddy’s Birthday in the city last weekend. I absolutely loved my outfit and I knew I had to do an outfit post for it. I actually threw this outfit on the weekend prior to her birthday to take these pictures. It was the perfect trial run to make sure I like the way everything looked 😉
Sorry I’m just absolutely obsessed with this vest. I think I’ve worn it at least once a week this past month, but this was the first time I dressed it up. I also think majority of the times I’ve worn it, it’s been a Friday… Faux Fur Fridays anyone?
It was fun pairing this sheer shirt with my leather-ish leggings and vest. I was able to wear it to work with my regular black boots and switched to my black booties for dinner and drinks later on that night.
What I’m Wearing:
Chichwish vest || Express portofino shirt || New York & Company leggings || Kate Spade crossbody (similar) || DSW booties
Hope you all have a great weekend! I’m seeing my best friend and I’m so excited!
Friday night I had the pleasure of dining at Park Avenue Winter in midtown, to celebrate my friend Maddy’s birthday. Let me start by saying, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city.
A little bit about the restaurant: they change their menu and decor every few months to reflect the current season, so right now it is Winter. It’s such an amazing concept and definitely keeps it interesting. We were also lucky that Maddy’s birthday fell during restaurant week (perfect for my fabulous foodie friend) so of course we had to try the special menu.
I was a little nervous at first because I am such a picky eater and it was a Friday during Lent, which meant no meat, but the staff was extremely accommodating. I was able to order two appetizers instead of an appetizer and a meal. I chose the Greenmarket Lettuces with Winter Frost Vegetables and then the Kale and Manchego Salad. The second salad was actually supposed to have chorizo and made with a chorizo dressing, but the waiter kindly made a swap for a lemon and olive oil dressing instead. With my meal I had the Winter Citruscello Bellini which was so good. For dessert I chose the Winter White Sundae which was Popcorn Ice Cream, Coconut & White Mocha Sauce. The meal and restaurant were so great and it was the perfect place to celebrate Maddy’s birthday.
I can’t wait to return when the seasons change!
PS: Outfit post for this night soon to follow!
Hellooo Monday! Man I had a great week and weekend. Lots of things going on but I love being busy! Today I’m linking up with some other bloggers for the National Panhellenic Council International Badge Day. For any non-Greek readers, its a day for sorority women to wear their sorority badges or Greek letters in a celebration of sisterhood.
Although I’ve graduated, being in a sorority is a big part of my life. Just last week I attended an NYC Alumnae Panhellenic event with my friend Marie! It was so cool to meet other New Yorkers of different sororities. I’m also still super close with my sorority family– thank goodness for group texts! Its so great to hear what’s going on in their lives and hear about the newest additions to our family.
You can still find me in my letter shirts during the weekend, it’s my favorite thing to throw on with a pair of sweats or leggings. When I’m lounging around watching TV or blogging, its always nice to rep my sorority.
I may have graduated, but my Kappa Delta sisterhood will be apart of my life for many years come.
