I love New Year’s Eve.
I love the closing of one year, and the clean slate of starting a new one. I love picking out a sparkly outfit and getting all dolled up. I love popping a bottle of champagne right before midnight. I love reminiscing about all the great things from the year before, and learning from the not so good memories. I love looking forward to what is to come, for the memories I will make, and the people I will make them with.
I love loving New Year’s Eve.
I should probably explain this backdrop. For the past 11 years, my best friend and our families have been getting together to celebrate. This year, I thought it would be fun to set up a photo booth, and picked this backdrop up at Party City! I’m so excited to take pictures in front of it tomorrow. I can’t believe we were just 11 years old when this all started! It’s almost time to pop some champagne and ring in the New Year!
P.S. Isn’t this graphic tee the cutest!? I ordered it from Old Navy a month or two ago. It’s on super sale right now for only $9!! I also ordered this ChicWish faux fur vest last week and got it in the mail last night, so I knew I had to pair them together!
2014 was a great year. I graduated from college, moved back home, and started working at an amazing digital ad agency. I think I’m starting to get adjusted to post-grad life (but really, will I ever?) and this blog is definitely helping.
I started blogging in the summer going into my senior year on a different site, which helped keep me occupied when I wasn’t interning. I was immediately drawn to blogging and knew I wanted to write some more. Last April over Easter break, Chocolate Chai and Champagne was born. I was so excited to start this new blog but never imagined I would be doing as much as I am right now! It really picked up once I started working, and has become my creative outlet during long bus rides to and from the city. I love coming up with new ideas, and get so excited to share these posts with you all!
This is only the beginning and I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for both me and Chocolate Chai and Champagne! Thank you to all of my readers, especially my family and friends who always take the time to read. Your feedback and support is what pushes me to continue writing everyday.
Saturday night, my family and I decided to take advantage of the great weather we’ve been having, and go see the Dyker Heights Christmas lights. The homes in the area are beautifully decorated and its definitely a sight to see. The lights should be up until January 1st if you’re interested in going! The Facebook page has more information about it.
Before the sun went down, I was able to snap some shots of my outfit. I made sure I added layers because we weren’t sure how cold it was going to be. I was also able to use my new C. Wonder bag!
What I’m Wearing::
Charlotte Russe scarf || Ann Taylor Loft chambray || Marshall’s sweater (old) || Call It Spring boots || Old Navy jeans || C. Wonder Pouch (in stores)
We headed into Brooklyn at around 5 o’clock, so it wasn’t too crowded yet and just dark enough to enjoy the lights. It made me feel like Christmas was lasting just a little bit longer! Here are some of my favorite houses:
If you’re in the area, definitely check out the Dyker Heights Christmas lights before its too late! You won’t regret it 🙂
As you may have seen on my Instagram, I got a new camera for Christmas!
I had originally ordered one on Black Friday with my mom, for her to give to me, but she surprised me with an even better one! I’ve really wanted to step up my blogging game with better photos, so I thought this was a great investment. I’m so lucky to have parents who are so thoughtful! They also bought me a blog planner from Heart & Arrow!
My new camera is AMAZING! It has a great focus, flash, and is even able to connect to my phone without any wires! Talk about high-tech. I’m so excited to start taking more pictures!
In other exciting news, I’ve bought myself a domain name! So I am now officially chocolatechaiandchampagne.com!
It was a Merry Blogger Christmas for me! I think 2015 is going to be a great year!
Merry Christmas everyone! I know its a day late, but yesterday was so busy with family fun. We host Christmas Eve and Christmas Day every year, so it gets a little crazy in my house. Wednesday was filled with preparing the house for all of our guests. We ate, drank, and were definitely merry.
This year, my mom, sister, and I decided to get matching pajamas from Old Navy. We were so excited to put them on! Aren’t the reindeer socks adorable?! We got to bed around 2 am, and were hoping to sleep in a bit so we were well-rested for another day of hosting.
Shocker, we didn’t really get to sleep in. But this was okay with me, because I couldn’t wait to give my family their presents! We all stayed in our pjs, opened gifts, and had homemade muffins and mimosas.
Then it was time to quickly get ready and head out for Christmas mass. Once we were back, we finished up preparing the house and waited for my mom’s family to come over. It was another great day!
As we get older, some things change about Christmas, but there are so many things I am still able to cherish. These memories are the things I know I will remember for a lifetime.
Today is going to be a pjs-all-day kind of day, filled with movies and lots of leftovers! How are you spending your day?
I cannot believe its Christmas Eve already! This holiday season has really flown by. Luckily my sister has been home for a week, so its been great spending some time with her! She came to meet me after work on Monday and we had a little sister date in SoHo. Its so nice that so many stores are a quick walk away from my office.
We first went to the Birchbox store. I have been wanting to go, so we were very excited to check it out! We each made a sample box. They were $15 each and we were able to choose a product from body/nails, hair, fragrance, makeup, and skin. I treated my sister to her box as an early Christmas gift 😉
We were then getting hungry so we headed to Boqueria, a tapas restaurant. If you remember, I went there once back in September with my friend Maddy, and it was just as great this time around!
After dinner we stopped at Laduree for some macarons to go, since we were still a little full from dinner. After hitting some stores on Broadway, we were ready to call it a night, and caught a bus home.
This trip was the perfect way to get me in the Christmas mood, and it was great spending some time with my (not-so) baby sister! We are hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so its going to be a little crazy here!
Wishing you all the Merriest of Christmases!
During the holiday season, I always find myself surrounded by goodies. That turns into my having a constant sweet tooth, even when I’m just at home. Ever find yourself looking for a late night sweet treat, but don’t want to ruin a full day of healthy eating? Well I’ve found your solution!
Are you a fan of Muddy Buddy/Puppy Chow? Well I started making this nighttime treat and realized its very similar! The ingredients include Life cereal, Powdered Peanut Butter, Powdered Peanut Butter with Chocolate, Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, and Confectioner’s Sugar.
I made the Powdered Peanut Butter as I normally would (1 tbsp original, 1 tbsp chocolate), and then mixed in 1/2 tbsp of the unsweetened cocoa powder and a splash of Splenda to sweeten it up a bit. I then mixed in 1/3 cup of the cereal and made sure its fully coated. Then, I put the mixture into a plastic baggie, put in 1 tbsp of the confectioner’s sugar and shake it until the cereal is fully coated. Ta da! You have a snack that satisfies your sweet tooth but doesn’t break the healthy bank. This little dessert is only 130 calories! Enjoy 🙂
